Zorra Twp - Theft - July 12, 2018

The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Oxford Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for a Theft in Zorra Twp.
 
The Ontario Provincial Police Oxford Detachment responded to a report of a theft from the Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery on June 30, 2018.
 
The theft occurred overnight between 4:30 p.m. on Friday June 29, 2018 and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018. The cemetery is located on Road 68 between 45th Line and Zorra -Tavistock Line.
 
The suspect(s) entered the property and stole 40 round bronze flower vases with an estimated value of $10,000. Each vase is worth approximately $250. (Photos attached)
 
Police are hoping that anyone that may have seen anyone suspicious in the area during that time frame to call police to report it.
 
The investigation is continuing.
Zorra Twp - ATV Theft - July 9, 2018

The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Oxford Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for a Theft in Zorra Twp.
 
On Saturday June 30, 2018 the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft on Road 96, Zorra Twp.
 
Through investigation it was determined that unknown suspect(s) attended the property and removed a black CanAm All Terrain Vehicle.
 
The total value of the item stolen is approximately $8000.  The incident remains under investigation.
Zorra Twshp - Break & Enter - July 4, 2018

The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Oxford Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for a Break, Enter and Theft in Zorra Twp.
 
On Friday June 22, 2018 the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a daylight Break & Enter on 15th Line, north of Road 92, Zorra Twp.
 
Through investigation it was determined that unknown suspect(s) forced entry through the front door of the residence.
 
The suspect(s) managed to steal a large television, a satellite receiver and a substantial amount of jewelry.  The total value of the items stolen is approximately $25,000.  The incident remains under investigation.
Ingersoll - Arson - June 27, 2018

The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Oxford Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person responsible for arson the Town of Ingersoll.
 
On Saturday, June 16, 2018 at approximately 8:54 p.m., the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a small grass fire on King Street East in Ingersoll.
 
Through investigation it was determined that a male suspect was observed setting a grassy area on fire. The incident took place near a parking lot at King Street East and Water Street, in the Town of Ingersoll.  
 
The suspect was observed to set the fire, remained in the area and played what may have been a recorder (musical Instrument), then attempt to set the grass on fire a second time before fleeing the area. The male also had a small white dog with him at the time, and a female was observed in the area as well and may have also been with the suspect.
 
The fire was small in nature; however the Ingersoll Fire Service attended to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
 
The suspect is described as follows:
  • Male, approximately 30-years-of-age
  • Approximately 5 foot 8 inches
  • Thin build
  • Short dark hair
  • Dark t-shirt, long style, blue and white plaid shorts
Tillsonburg - Michief - June 18, 2018

The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Oxford Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for a series of mischiefs and vandalisms that was reported to police on Sunday, June 10, 2018.
 
Oxford County OPP responded to the incidents that happened overnight between Saturday, June 9, 2018 and Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the Town of Tillsonburg.
 
OPP responded to nine separate incidents from the Baldwin Place and Hickory Hills subdivisions. Several residential properties were targeted including homes on Weston Drive, Wilkins Crescent, Van Norman Drive, Gibson Drive, Jones Crescent, Dereham Drive and Jean Ferrie Court.
 
The suspect(s) removed outdoor furniture, lawn ornaments and flowerpots and placed them in different locations throughout the neighborhoods. Also several items were knocked over, broken, and in one case eggs were thrown at a parked vehicle.
Otterville - Break, Enter & Theft - June 4, 2018

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County Detachment along with Oxford Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for a break and enter at the Otterville Golf Course located on James Street in the village of Otterville.
 
On Sunday, May 27, 2018 at approximately 4:33 a.m., police received a report of a break and enter.
 
Through the course of investigation, it was determined that on Sunday, May 27, 2018, between 3:35 a.m. and 4:28 a.m., unknown person(s) attended the golf course and forcibly gained entry into the main office. Once inside, a quantity of Canadian currency from a cash register was removed.
 
Members of the Oxford County OPP are continuing to investigate 
Woodstock - Break & Enter & Theft - May 29, 2018

Crime Stoppers of Oxford County and the Woodstock Police Service, are seeking the public’s assistance in solving a theft in the city of Woodstock.
 
On Sunday, May 27th, 2018 between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. unknown suspects stole an AED - Automated External Defibrillation - from the east ball diamond at the Jack Dunn Park in the City of Woodstock.  Value of this life saving device is approximately $1500.00.

Laser Strike on Helicopter - Oxford County - May 28, 2018

Oxford Crime Stoppers are seeking the public(ORILLIA, ON) - On Thursday May 17, 2018 at 11:47 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) helicopter was conducting a search for a wanted person in Oxford County near Woodstock, Ontario when it was struck by a laser while in flight. The flight crew responded appropriately to avoid the laser strike preventing any permanent injury to the crew or impact to flight operations.
 
According to Transport Canada, incidents of lasers pointed at aircraft are rising in Canada. In 2016, there were over 500 reported incidents in Canada. Lasers are not toys. Pointing a laser at an aircraft can create glare that distracts or temporarily blinds the pilots, putting passengers, as well as people on the ground, at serious risk.
 
"Laser attacks on aircraft are a serious and growing concern. The OPP take these actions very seriously and if the person(s) responsible are identified, they will be held accountable for their actions." said OPP Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair, Provincial Commander of Traffic Safety and Operational Support.
 
The OPP would like to remind all members of the public that it is a criminal offence to point a laser at an aircraft. Offenders will be charged and could face fines up to $100,000, 5 years in prison - or both. If you see someone endangering an aircraft, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Zorra Twp - Break, Enter & Theft - May 23, 2018

The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Oxford Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person (s) responsible for a break, enter and theft which was reported at a business located on Road 68, near 45th Line in Zorra Township. The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at approximately 9:10 p.m. 
 
A neighbour passing by noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at the business, stopped and then observed three or four male suspects running from a workshop on the property. The suspects left the business in an early model Ford crew cab pickup truck, maroon in colour with grey on the bottom. The vehicle was last seen entering the City of Woodstock.
 
The suspects gained entry by prying open a rear locked door at the business. Items that were taken included various Dewalt power hand tools, Honda 200 watt generator, ridged threading machine, ridged refrigeration/Freon reclaimer (2 machines), copper scrap and copper fittings.  Approximate value of stolen items is $10,000.
                                        
Members of the Oxford County OPP are continuing to investigate.
Woodstock - Cemetery Mischief - May 11, 2018

Crime Stoppers of Oxford County and the Woodstock Police Service, are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for damage at a local cemetery in the City of Woodstock.
Woodstock Police are actively investigating mischief reported to several headstones within Hillview Cemetery located on Fifth Ave., in Woodstock.
 
The police investigation indicates that sometime overnight between Tuesday, May 8th and Wednesday, May 9th, approximately 150 headstones were knocked over and thousands of dollars in damages were incurred.
 
The Woodstock Police Service Forensic Identifications Unit was utilized for the collection of evidence at the scene and the investigation continues.
